Merton’s first Rough Runner event was held at Morden Park last weekend and proved a great success. Local GPs supported the day and took part in the challenge with obstacles including a special travellator.
Team Merton including GPs from Merton CCG were raising funds for MVSC Merton Voluntary Service Council. The local NHS is working to support the voluntary sector in Merton, but the charities delivering local services always need more help.
Social prescribing in Merton has grown from strength to strength and identifies patients who have a non-medical problem and offers a non-medical solution. It is estimated that 20% of patients who go to see their GP have a non-medical cause to their problem. We have some great results in Merton, as a result of Social prescribing, which has been shown to improve people’s wellbeing. The key to success has been working collaboratively with public health, local voluntary sector, Merton CCG and other community providers.
If you have any questions, would like further information about the changes or would like someone from the CCG to come and talk to your organisation about these changes, please do not hesitate to contact us.
