Merton’s GP hubs have expanded to six locations in the borough making it easier to get an appointment every day of the week.
Following the success of the first two hubs at Wide Way Medical Centre and the Nelson Medical Practice, Merton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) with Merton Health (GP Federation) has opened four extra hubs located at Merton Medical Practice, Lambton Road Medical Practice, Morden Hall Medical Centre and Wimbledon Medical Practice.
Overall Merton will be offering up to 50,000 extra GP appointments this year with the additional locations offering 55 extra hours per week across the borough.
The Hubs offer ‘on the day’ and pre-bookable advance appointments, between them covering the hours of 5pm until 9pm, Monday to Friday and 8am-8pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.
Merton GP and Merton CCG Clinical Lead for Primary Care Transformation Dr Karen Worthington said:” After hearing many patients say they have found the hub services helpful we have decided to expand to four more local surgeries. Patients can now be seen in their normal practice or at local hubs near their homes where their doctors can access their medical records. Local families have a greater choice of consultation times to fit in with their lives in the evenings and at weekends.”
Merton Health GP Federation Chief Executive Mariam Ganesaratnam said:
“We are pleased to be offering patients greater access at a choice of locations in Merton to see a local GP and are currently working towards introducing video consulting so that patients can book to see their GP at their convenience”
Anyone registered with a Merton GP practice can make an appointment with the hubs by contacting their GP practice during surgery hours or by calling 111 out of normal surgery hours.
