05 May 2021: Merton borough update

Across South West London we have now vaccinated over half of our adult population, an incredible milestone to have passed.  We have now delivered over 880,000 vaccinations, including over 89,067 first doses in Merton according to the latest NHS figures.  We know there are still many more vaccines to deliver, and we continue work hard to increase this particularly in those communities and areas with a lower uptake.

  • The NHS is now inviting 40 year olds to book their vaccine through the national booking system
  • We continue to reach out and engage with our communities including pop-up clinics and engagement including the COVID-19 Community Champions, and the Merton Patient Engagement Group
  • We have now held walk in and twilight sessions at the Wilson and Commonside Community Centre, Pollards Hill hoping to remove barriers for local people
  • Those under 30 who are eligible now and when it’s their turn, will be offered an alternative to the AZ vaccine with Moderna or Pfizer – they should contact their GP to discuss their options
